Brooo Terms of Use
These terms are the agreement between you and Meterstone Studio (“we”, “us”) for using Brooo. By creating an account or using the app you accept them. If you do not accept them, please do not use Brooo. How we handle your data is described separately in the Privacy Policy, which is part of these terms.
1. Who may use Brooo
- You must be at least 13 years old. Brooo asks you to confirm this when you sign up.
- If you are under 18, you may use Brooo only with the permission of a parent or legal guardian, who should read these terms with you.
- You are responsible for what happens on your account. Keep your password to yourself — it must be at least 8 characters — or, if you use Sign in with Apple, keep your Apple ID secure, and do not let anyone else use your account.
2. Brooo is not medical advice, and it is not for emergencies
Brooo is a companion app, not a doctor, therapist, counsellor or crisis service. Nothing it says is medical, psychological, legal or other professional advice, and it does not diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any condition. It is not a medical device. Never delay or ignore advice from a qualified professional because of something Brooo said.
If someone is in danger right now, stop and get real help.
- Call your local emergency number (911 in the United States, 112 in much of Europe, 999 in the UK).
- In the United States and Canada, call or text 988 — the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline — or chat at 988lifeline.org. It is free and available 24 hours a day.
- Tell an adult you trust: a parent, a guardian, a teacher, a school counsellor or a doctor.
Brooo cannot call anyone for you, cannot alert anyone on your behalf, and may be offline or slow at the moment you need it. If a message suggests you may be at risk, Brooo shows a fixed safety message written by us with crisis resources; that message is not a substitute for talking to a person.
3. The AI can be wrong
Brooo’s replies are produced by a large language model. Models make things up, misread context, get numbers wrong and sometimes say things that are unhelpful, out of date or simply false — even when they sound confident. Health figures Brooo repeats come from Apple Health on your phone, and Brooo does not verify them. Use your own judgement, and check anything that matters with a person.
Brooo has no memory of you beyond what it stores for your account, no knowledge of your calendar, weather or location, and no access to the internet on your behalf.
4. How you may use Brooo
Use Brooo for yourself, for everyday wellbeing and company. Please do not:
- use Brooo if you are under 13, or pretend to be someone else;
- use Brooo to harm, harass, threaten, bully or impersonate anyone;
- send or ask for sexual content involving minors, or anything else illegal;
- try to get instructions for self-harm, violence, weapons or illegal drugs, or push the AI to bypass its safety behaviour;
- upload other people’s private information without their permission;
- attack, overload, scrape, reverse-engineer or probe the service, break into other accounts, or use the API outside the app for automated bulk access;
- create accounts in bulk, or delete and re-create accounts, to get around limits;
- resell Brooo, or present its output as a professional service to other people;
- use Brooo where these terms or the app’s use would break the law that applies to you.
To keep Brooo running for everyone, there is a daily limit on AI replies and check-ins for each account, and a shared daily limit for accounts created in the last few days. When a limit is reached, Brooo answers with a short notice until it resets the next day; its safety message about getting help still works.
You keep ownership of what you write. You give us permission to store and process it in order to run the service, exactly as described in the Privacy Policy.
5. Reporting something Brooo said
Every message from Brooo has a Report action. If a reply is harmful, wrong, creepy or inappropriate, please report it — the message and your reason are stored for a person on our side to review, and are deleted if you delete your account. You can also write to brooo@meterstone.studio. We read reports and use them to fix the app. Reporting does not create a duty for us to respond to an emergency; see section 2.
6. Beta software, provided as is
Brooo is beta software distributed for testing. It will have bugs, it may lose data, reminders may not arrive, and features may change or disappear without notice. We may suspend or stop the service at any time.
To the fullest extent the law allows, Brooo is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or uninterrupted availability. To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages, or for lost data, arising from your use of Brooo. Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot be limited by law, and some places do not allow the exclusions above, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
7. Ending your account
You can delete your account at any time in Settings › Sessions › Delete Account. That erases your account and its data on our server immediately and permanently; it cannot be undone. You can also just delete the app, though that leaves the account on the server until you delete it.
We may suspend or delete an account that breaks these terms, that appears to belong to someone under 13, or where we must do so by law. Where it is reasonable, we will tell you first.
8. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as Brooo changes. The effective date at the top always shows the current version, and significant changes will be flagged in the app. Continuing to use Brooo after a change means you accept the new terms.
9. Apps distributed by Apple
If you obtained Brooo through the App Store or TestFlight, the following applies:
- This agreement is between you and Meterstone Studio only, not with Apple. Apple is not responsible for Brooo or its content.
- Your licence to use Brooo is a non-transferable licence to run it on an Apple-branded device you own or control, as permitted by the App Store Terms of Service. This replaces any standard end user licence agreement (EULA) only where it is more restrictive than Apple’s Licensed Application End User License Agreement; otherwise Apple’s standard EULA applies.
- Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for Brooo. Support requests go to brooo@meterstone.studio.
- If Brooo fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple may refund the purchase price (Brooo is free, so this is zero). To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation for Brooo.
- We, not Apple, are responsible for addressing any claim about Brooo, including product liability claims, claims that Brooo fails to conform to a legal requirement, and claims under consumer protection or privacy law.
- We, not Apple, are responsible for investigating and resolving any third-party claim that Brooo infringes that party’s intellectual property rights.
- You confirm that you are not located in a country subject to a US Government embargo or designated as “terrorist supporting”, and that you are not on any US Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
- Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms, and upon your acceptance Apple has the right to enforce them against you as a third-party beneficiary.
